Volleyball makes short trip to Fort Wayne for weekend action

DAYTON — The Wright State volleyball team is back on the road this weekend for action at Purdue Fort Wayne in the Raiders' final regular season road trip. Friday night's match is set for a 7 p.m. start before a 2 p.m. first serve on Saturday afternoon. Both matches are expected to be streamed on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State dropped a pair of four-set road matches at Robert Morris last weekend. Friday saw Elena Dubuc lead Wright State with 14 kills while both Katie Sowko and Lauren Yacobucci turned in double-doubles, with Sowko notching 13 kills and 12 digs as Yacobucci passed out 47 of the Raiders' 51 assists to go along with 11 digs. Taylor Bransfield also finished with double-digit kills with 10, adding four blocks. Saturday, Sowko finished with a team-high 18 kills for the Raiders and added 19 digs for her 13th double-double of the year, while Yacobucci had 11 digs to go along with passing out 49 of Wright State's 58 assists for her 11th double-double of the campaign. Zegunis and Audrey Hudson each collected nine kills, with Zegunis tallying three blocks, as Bransfield and Dubuc both added eight kills. 

LIFE ON THE ROAD
This weekend's two contests are the end of a stretch that has seen Wright State playing six of seven matches on the road. After trekking to Green Bay and grabbing two wins, the Raiders dropped a pair of matches at Robert Morris last weekend before this pair at Purdue Fort Wayne. Wright State closes the regular season at home against Oakland.

HORIZON LEAGUE CHECK IN
With two weeks left in the regular season, Wright State is currently 9-5 in HL action and sits third in the Horizon League standings, behind HL leader Northern Kentucky (13-1) and second-place IU Indy (10-4). Wright State won both matches this season against IU Indy and would own the tiebreaker at the end of the season. Purdue Fort Wayne is currently 10th, while Oakland - who the Raiders close the regular season against next week - is currently part of a four-way tie for fourth at 7-7. 

KNOW THE FOE
- Purdue Fort Wayne is currently 3-22 overall with a 1-13 Horizon League mark, entering the weekend having lost its last nine contests.
- Purdue Fort Wayne has tallied two of its wins at home (2-8), defeating Mercyhurst and Green Bay, while the other win came in a neutral site matchup (1-3).
